Last class period we listen to "Can't Feel My Face" and analyzed it as a class. I feel like this song is about cocaine and his cocaine abuse and possible addiction. I personally hate this song because it's so repetitive and stupid. I haven't heard many other songs by this artist so I'm not sure if he just lacks talent or if this is unusual for him.

Recently on NPR the program host was discussing the conflict regarding Syria and ISIS. The host and a guest were talking about Russia and the United States' somewhat cooperative role in opposing the threat of ISIS. It was interesting to me that Russia is taking military action against all of the rebel forces in Syria including but not limited to ISIS, and the US is only engaging ISIS. The radio host suggested that this was because Russia has military interest within Syria and the current leader of Syria, Assad, is on good terms with Russia so they want to protect his regime and that the US is purely focusing on fighting the terrorists which is ISIS. I find it hard to believe that the issue is this straightforward.

Over the weekend I had a conversation with a friend about the recent school shooting and gun control. Although I don’t have a strong opinion either way about what should be done to fix the problem in this country I find it interesting to discuss because of how polarizing the issue can be.
Both of us, like most rational people, agree that mass shooting are bad but that is about the only thing that was agreed upon. My stance was that America has more mass shootings than any other developed nation in the world and we also have some of the most relaxed gun laws. I argued that these two facts are very much related and common sense says that if you take away guns then gun related crimes, namely mass shootings, will become less common.
My friend argued that firstly there is no way to successfully take everyone’s gun and on top of that for some people, such as older women, guns are the only way they have to defend themselves if they are attacked or someone breaks into their house.
Although our conversation went on for a fairly long time, no conclusion was ever made. I don’t think there is a “right answer” or even “good way” to solve this issue in America because both sides of the debate have very real and valid concerns.
